FMCSA Compliance Date Extended
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced a delay of compliance date for reporting results of DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificates directly to the State Driver Licensing Agency (SDLA), which would have allowed a driver to stop carrying his or her medical examiner’s certificate.
The compliance date has been extended from June 22, 2018 to June 22, 2021.
What does this delay mean to motor carriers and commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers?
The medical examiner must provide the CMV driver with the medical examiner’s certificate and continue to report the results to the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. The CMV driver must continue to carry the medical examiner’s certificate while operating a CMV.
